It Is All So Political

I am little wary writing this blog post. I have been wanting to do it, and now that the day is quickly approaching, I just have to get it off my back and send it into cyberspace. Here is to hoping none of the people I write about read my blog.

In Chile there is this really beautiful tradition in construction where one day the construction workers and the home owners get together to drink, eat, and toast to the new project. It is the one day where the class divide is broken and the maestro and the patron celebrate together. With this project it is a little different, because the workers are actually making more money than me and the home owners are well for lack of a better work, poor. None the less we have all worked hard and deserve to have a nice cold one together.

My dilemma is that all the political authorities think they are coming. Now some of them I will invite. The mayor of Catemu and the person in charge of all new construction let us build without paying a building permit and took all of our rubble away for free. The others, I´m just not so sure that I want to pay for them to have a good time and plus pose for a photo when really they didn´t do jack pooh. Some of my Chilean friends would tell me to just invite them, ¨I doesn´t ever hurt to have friends in high places¨, which is probably true. But personally, I just hate the government and politicians in general (hopefully I won´t get arrested for sedition for writing that, if so you all can visit me once a month in the clink) and I just can´t stand to think that they are coming to my party.

That is one thing Chile and the US have in common, politicians are basically a bunch of do-nothing that think that they are so important. Personally I won´t even vote if Gwen wouldn´t give me the business if she found out I didn´t. I mean seriously what good does it do? George W Bush likes the Patriot Act, Barack Obama likes the Patriot Act. Are we still in Iraq? I´m assuming so. Funny, both parties are busy taking away my personal freedoms and spending my hard earning money, and where is the benefit to me, I have yet to see it.

In conclusion, if any of these wankers think that they are getting an invitation to my party, be it George W Bush, Barack Obama or some Chilean guys whose names I don´t even know, they are just dead wrong.

You all can come though, because seriously it will be a gas.
