It has been a long while since I have posted a blog. I have to admit that I really don´t like to do it, I am still not convinced that anyone is actually reading this. However this time I have an excuse for my negligence, I have been in Catemu.
We are starting to build tomorrow!
I can´t believe that this day is already here. Our project has come together quickly and surprisingly for Chile, without many problems. Today I ran from meeting to meeting to make sure that we are on the same page as the city government. In Chile there is always some neighbor that thinks that they know everything and will convince the workers that they can´t build or some other nonsense. The magic words for that situation are ¨permiso municipal¨ or government permission. I taught all my worker bees of the magical phrase, assuring that even if I am not there for the whole work day, no busybody neighbor will derail my operation.
I also had a meeting with the mayor. He told us we don´t have to pay the building permit. That was very good news, because it is saving us 150 big ones. The good news doesn´t stop there. We are going to eat in the local elementary school for free, and sleep in the old school house for free.
Tomorrow I will upload photos of the first day of work with the volunteers.
